What is an EML file?
An EML file stores one email message using the standard internet message format. Email applications such as Outlook, Apple Mail, Thunderbird and Windows Mail can create or open EML files.
Open EML files privately
Your EML file is parsed locally inside this browser. It is not uploaded to FormatPeek, added to an inbox or retained after you close the page.
What this EML viewer displays
- From, To and Cc addresses
- Subject, date and message body
- HTML and plain-text email content
- Attachments and their file sizes
- Complete decoded message headers
Frequently asked questions
Do I need Outlook to open an EML file?
No. EML is supported by several email programs, and FormatPeek can read it directly in a modern browser.
Does viewing the file send or import the email?
No. The message is only decoded for display. It is not sent, forwarded or connected to an email account.
Are remote tracking images loaded?
No. Remote images are removed from the preview so opening a saved message does not automatically contact an external image server.
