How to open an MPP file without Microsoft Project

You can view an MPP project plan in a web browser without buying or installing Microsoft Project. This works on Windows, Mac and Linux.

Open an MPP file online

1. Drop your .mpp file into the upload box above, or click the box to choose it.
2. Wait for the project to be parsed.
3. Switch between the Gantt chart, task sheet, resource sheet, task usage, calendar and network diagram.

The temporary file is deleted from the server immediately after parsing. When you close the page, the displayed project data is cleared from your browser.

Why will an MPP file not open?

Check that the filename ends in .mpp and that the file is not damaged or password protected. FormatPeek accepts files up to 30 MB. Files such as XML, MPX, XLSX and PDF are different formats and cannot be uploaded as MPP files.

Can I edit the project?

FormatPeek is a viewer, not an MPP editor. It lets you inspect project information without changing the source file.
